Susan H. Elam has spent a combined twenty-two years creating and implementing product launches and merchandising programs for high end home fashion icons such as Henredon, Drexel Heritage, and Beacon Hill Showrooms. Her intuitive and spot-on trending forecasts have been used by such fashion forward retailers as Target.
With a Bachelor of Science in Design from the University of North Carolina, Susan began her career in 1986, before the demise of domestic furniture manufacturing. With a unique ability to balance aesthetics and function, she gained recognition within the industry for creating evocative and multi sensory showrooms. Susan became one of the first and few female Vice Presidents in the male dominated furniture industry, in the areas of Creative Direction, Product Development and Trends.
In 2005, heeding the call to create and give, Susan resigned from the corporate culture to join her new husband, attorney John Elam in a theological pursuit. Enrolling at Union Theological Seminary (a member of Richmond Theological Consortium and Washington Theological Consortium) Susan is seeking a MACE degree (Masters of Christian Education). Always an innovator, Susan continues to pioneer new ways of thinking and seeing, blending the two disciplines of interior design and theological aesthetics in a successful freelance practice.
